Every story points back to the awesomeness of Christ and how He really "is all and in all."Here's a little snippet from the beginning of the book. Sally (yes, I'm on a first name biases with her because we've read the book so many times) is talking about how some people think that the Bible is a book about rule or heroes....
"No, the Bible isn't a book of rules, or a book of heroes. The Bible is most of all a Story. It's an adventure story about a young Hero who comes from a far country to win back his lost treasure. It's a love story about a brave Prince who leaves his palace, his throne -everything- to rescue the one He loves. It's like the most wonderful of fairy tales that has come true in real life!
You see, the best thing about this Story is - it's true.
There are lots of stories in the Bible, but all the stories are telling one Big Story. The Story of how God loves his children and comes to rescue them."
I don't know where you are at with the Bible, what your past experience has been when reading it, but I encourage you to read it with the above idea in mind. It's really changed my life to read it this way.
I often tear-up reading this to our kids. It is so well-written. We love it too!

ReplyDeleteWe love it too! Got it for Christmas and are reading it through for the second time. And, Marian (almost 9) loves it just as much as Tobin (4 years).
