The Ugly-Cry Face

I've been wanting to write this post...well, I don't really want to do it, but I feel morally obligated to warn those of you who read our blog about what's to come. You're probably thinking 'awe I can't wait to see pictures of the baby' when we go to Ethiopia and I'm right there with you. Unfortunately, I'll probably be in at least some of those pictures and well, something really crazy comes over me when it comes to adoption, modern day slavery, extreme poverty, etc...

We call it The Ugly Cry Face. Here's a snapshot of what's to come so you're not scared of it when you see it. I'm really ok. Nothing's physically wrong with me. In this instance I'm extremely happy that my nephew is home....

As if the ugly-cry face wasn't bad enough, Blogger won't let me upload in a smaller size! It's so big it's like you are seeing it in person. Sorry about that!!

  1. I think every mom has an ugly cry face and trust me, yours is a lot better than mine! I hope you are able to put on your ugly cry soon...

  2. I am all too familiar with my "ugly cry face". And be assured that yours is a lot less ugly than mine. The fact that I walked down the aisle as matron of honor at my little sister's wedding wearing a hideous ugly cry face is one unfortunate detail about the big event that everyone seems to remember. I will never live it down. And it was captured in pictures that will be passed along for generations to come. I knew I was doing it at the time and was trying hard to put on a pleasant face but I was actually physically incapable of it. So embarrassing.

Gotcha on the blogroll! I think your math is correct; however, official numbers 3 and 4 aren't reporting to the listserv, so there is a possibility that they may have received a referral and number 5 (the Anderson's) could actually be as high as unofficially first. So I think we are unofficially somewhere between 4 and 6 and you are unofficially somewhere between 5 and 7. I sure wish the two families ahead of us would come out of the woodwork because I'm really going to go crazy after the Andersons get their call!

  3. Your "ugly cry face" is WAY better looking than mine. I turn completely red and frightful. I imagine all of my Ethiopia pics of me will be scary.
